Can anyone help me find out how to check if a tractor might have been stolen in the past. I have tried my sheriff office & they said they would not look.Tried on line with state & got nowhere Any help would be appreciated

I wish you luck my friend, there isn"t much worst than a thief in my book! Old tractors didn"t have to be registered like cars. You would have to have the original title and match it to a serial number. I wish you luck!

I agree, good luck.

I heard of a situation where a guy found his stolen 4 wheeler. The crook had a fake bill of sale and got off the hook.

It's like the officials have bigger fish to fry.

I called a NH dealer hoping he could give some info & when he heard how much money we were talking about he just laughed & said that was not enough money to worry about. Maybe not to him but I have to worry about every penney now as much as everything has gone up in the last 5 years!

Due to the millions of dollars of farm and construction equipment stolen each year most states have registries of stolen equipment much like stolen vehicle. There is also a national registry. Go online and query "how to trace stolen farm equipment" and you'll find numerous resources. These resources are only as good as the info entered. Many folks don't bother to record their serial numbers etc. and so they don't get reported. Many states have programs that place numbers on the equipment and keep a data base. Try the link below.
