HELP WITH A JOHN DEERE B!!!!!!!!

hey guys, i just got redoing my john deere b, i had a great time doing it. so when it came to fire her up for the first time she started right up. there was only one problem, it would only rin on full choke and it was blowing some awefull black smoke. so i tinkered with it some over the past two days and i got it to run on half choke. but it will die if i run it with no choke. whats going on???? if anyone could help me that would be very muc aperciated. thanks again. jonathan s in north eastern pa.

Ay would look for an new (old) carborator or overhaul the one you have.

You could have a cracked block and have oil leaking into the cylender, or did you try just throwing it down to low throttle? Are the wires too sensitoive, try ajusting the choke on the carborator, not with the lever on the dash, it could be too sensative and kill the engine.

my block is not cracked because i took both pistons out when i was working on the motor. has a brand knoew head gasket. i overhauled the carb, and set it to specs and then adjusted it more to get it to run on half choke but still wont run with out choke.

There are several internal passages in the carb that are plugged with brass plugs, and they fill up with rust and crud. You need to pull/drill out the plugs and using a long drillbit of the proper size , clean out the passages.

is it getting enough fuel from the tank to carb ? plugged line or tank ? needs that fuel to run also... only other thing if your carb is cleaned & set right .... maybe sell it & buy a red tractor ? jk

When you rebuilt the carb did you take the brass tube out and clean every hold in it? If those get clogged it won't run. Also unless you put a new float in it might check it for a leak in it that will let it not float. I have seen that hppen in an instant. Checkthe float height adjustment again,it doesn't take alot for it to not work right.
