Depends on the age of it. Oliver and White used them in the late 60's thru the 80's. Oliver forum

I thought John Deere bought them in the middle 50's . The first 55 combines had a flathead Hercules. I thought also that the 217 and 248 combine engines were Hercules design. Maybe I dreamed this. Vic

I don't think John Deere had anything to do with Hercules. They were a standalone company, assembled in Canton, OH. Made entines for many different applications: armed forces, Cockshutt, et. al. If memory serves, they stopped production 10-15 yrs back and sold out. There's a fella near Columbus, OH (last name: Biro?) that still has some NOS items.

Hercules Engine Company is still in business. Couple of guys bought the company name and inventory when the original company shut down. Has a pretty good operation going.

Billy, do you happen to have mauals for a Hercules ZXB5 engine (ZXB3 would be valuable too since it is said to be similar to the ZXB5.)
And would you like to sell of provide a photocopy or scan for a fee?
Thanks, Hendrik.
