herculese engine ID

The I.D. tag is missing from the Hercules engine in the B.F. Avery im working on. is there an easy way to identify it other than measuring the bore? which wouldnt be that hard to do since ive already got the head off an preparing to pull the engine.

Well measure it, but there are casting marks on the right side just above the oil pan. Allso there is often a stamped model on the left side on a flat spot.Post back what you find.

ah thank you, it appears i have an IXB which is what i thought. good to know i was right

It may be the IXA3 Hercules engine with 3.25" bore and 4.00" stroke. Hal

Hal: No Avery tractors were built with the IXA engine and very few General's & HG's.
