Working on a Hesston 5800 round baler. Removed the belts to see if they needed any work and they measured 370 inches and are supposed to be 380 inches. I am sure this isn't a problem it will just cause the baler to make a little smaller bale which is fine. But I also noticed the tension springs on the sides were all the way tightened. My thought is that with the shorter belts the tension springs shouldn't be so tight.
I also noticed that the scraper deflector is frozen and is in the upmost position. Is it a big deal that it doesn't move down when the bale gets bigger. I did have a little problem last year with hay getting around the roller and stopping the belts but not till the end of the year. I assumed the hay was a little to wet or chain and sprocket issue as they all needed replaced and I have replaced all of them. The belts look good no cracks and they don't look weathered. They are a little slick not sure if that would make them stop turning with a half bale in the chamber. Thoughts thanks.
