I think we were working near you this week. We set up forms and poured 2 pads for grain bins west of Swisher and north of Amana. Dennis Schrader's place. Going back Monday and tear off the forms and then going on to Chelsea. 2 30' bins with floors and stirators to tear down and move to West Branch. Getting kinda far away from Nichols. Chris

Yup if you look south across the river you could about see my place. I am straight south of Swisher.

You could just drop them bins at my place. No need to haul them clear back to West Branch.

Who you work for? Or are you on your own?

Gary

do you pour your pads as floaters or put footings down. I quit doing the bin move jobs and cement pouring just to many irons in the fire with machine assembly, carpenter remodel jobs and the hay business. currently doing semi loads of the westfield augers again plus complete kitchen remodel in home 25 miles away. have fun

I'm working for Campbell's Custom Bin Service in Nichols, Ia. We dig a footing around the outside, level with lime and cover with plastic and then stick in some re-rod and pour it wet. I ended up being the bowl float operator. Chris

Sorry I have to sound stupid and all, but whats up with the plastic? Years ago we put it under everything to keep moisture from coming up etc.

But we later on become aware that it only made the moisture come to the top of a slab (condensation). We prefer the sand / soil suck away the moisture, other than the day we pour the concrete.

The boss wants plastic laid on the fill. Not sure why, that's just the way we do it. Chris

Bowl float? Is that a different term for bull float? The wide metal float that's pushed and pulled by hand? We use a four foot version, Wicks (spelling?) uses a five footer and I've seen the hwy crews use what looks like a six or eight footer. Anyway , just wondering what a bowl float was. ...Randy
