Hey Straw Boss a question

Case Nutty 1660

Well-known Member
Dan and I were talking and he said Case may have had a pull type the size of a 1060 do you have any info or knowlage if this is true, I think that would have been quite a pull-type machine thanks cnt

I have late 60s factory pictures of one being put together from the frame up.
I'll see what I can do after I get in tonight.
Somewhere I also have a picture of an early Case pull-type on rubber tracks. Cat was not the first with the idea.

Brad this is all I have on the "A-6", or 75/77 model with tracks boy it would be neat to have one cnt

I think thats pretty much the same picture I have only mine is in the factory setting without the advertisment. I'm working on the other pics.

Wow that must be some book you have thanks for taking the time to do this, looks quite a bit different than the 400/460 unit did anything have a date by chance? I see the CK guess a 930/1030 probly 1966 or after just a guess though, looks like they were serious about it wonder what happened or if was later than I am guessing and was to close to combine shut down thanks for the great pics this will keep Dan and I talking for hours(like we need another reason to do that LOL) anyway really appreciate this take care and can't wait to see you either hear or there cnt tom

Brad,as Tom said, thanks for finding this and posting, will have to get the other Case combine buffs over here to look at this.Tell me Brad,do you know if this was like "1060" capacity? Did it ever hit the field?
Yea,Tom and I will need to hash this out this out.

Dan am sure Brad will chime in but by the number of straw walkers I would say it was a 42" throat so 1060 would apply and that would justify the 930/1030 hooked to it cnt

Thats why I picked that picture of the walkers. I was hoping you guys could figure out the width from that view. I have photos of the straight head for this machine, and judging by the number of sickle guard points, I'm guessing it had a 15 or 16 foot straight head on it. The pickup head was considerably shorter.

that makes sence as I do not remember anything mentioned at the time but that would be just months before the shut down came SAD looks like it would have been quite a machine, By the way Brad do you have the Combine story that was in the HE some years ago? Al Bulin I think wrote it and wondered if any one knows him personaly and could ask a little about this machine although he did the work on the "SP" models so he may not know much I would love to sit down with him for a few hours, he is a wealth of info on Case combines thanks again I know Dan and I are a little more exicted about these old machines than we should be,,, well according to our wifes any way!!! like I tell mine at least you know where I am and its not chasing girls just combines Case combines that is LOL PS I sure don't want her catching me in the combine shed just staring at them and waiting for harvest

Brad could I impose again and ask you to post or e-mail me the pic of the header, and did the pic put a model number or was it just a proto thanks cnt

I'm missing some issues and moved twice over the years. Often think about finding and organizing those back issues for reference but it never seems to happen.
The photo album I have shows another machine that looks to be the size of the 150 but has the left side operators platform of the 800/1000.
Yet it doesn't look big enough to be either.
Its decaled "230" on the grain tank. I'd like to know the story behind it.

I'm near caseman-d's stomping grounds tonight.
Not sure when I'll get back as we pretty much wing it with the traveling. Thought about looking him up tomorrow but I don't know when I'll be passing by his front porch or where his front porch is at. Wouldn't mind seeing a yard full of wheatlands but I'm traveling with 3 wimmen and get out voted sometimes when it comes to the schedule. Was just asking why the back of the vehicle wasn't cleaned out before we left. When asked why it mattered I said I might find a bunch of tractor parts to bring home. Boy did I catch he!!. LOL
But to answer your question, yes I can get you some header pics when I get back. None of the machines pictured were given a production model number that I'm aware of. Just X8, X10 etc.

Brad can Iget your e-mail, I can explain further there but I will also look it up and write it in my own wors here copy right stuff cnt

Darned if your not right sheeesh I counted four instead of five that would make it a 1660 pull-type thanks for pointing that out cnt

actually they are 52" 1660/1665 same throat size and take same headers( other than the 306Case didn't recomend the 6 row on a 1660) just a few differances like double chain drive cylinder, and out board planitarys with 30" rubber, cnt
