high temp thermostat 4430

I have jd 180 degree stats in 4430 that are less than one year old and the temp comes up to about 140 when blowing snow with rad covered. Does anyone have the number of a 202 degree stat that will work. Thanks for your help.

what is the problem? no heat?is the heater core plugged. maybe air in the lines.is the temp gadge working? just trying to give you options.

When you say covered do you mean completely? You might need to flush heater core and be sure valve is opening properly. The foam recirculating filter in the head liner should be clean and you can see the rear of the core while it's out. Also you can blow air through the cores at the same time.

That"s kinda what I was thinking,, and I was also wondering just "How" cold was it where he was at??? Some times it helps to reverse the heater hoses and let the flow go the other way,, and of course maybe the water valve is jammed up,,,where is the temp gauge registering..

I also have this problem on my 4020 if the temp is below 0 F. I have the screens covered and it will get up to maybe 160 degrees no matter how long I run it. I am not doing any hard work at all, just puttering around the farm. When it is warmer it will run 180 like it should. I also would prefer it to run a little warmer. 180 is about the temp you start getting accelerated cylinder wall wear. Will the 192 thermostat fit my 4020D? (also trying to get it warmer I did leave the 1500watt block heater plugged in and running while I ran the tractor for 45 minutes and it still would not get over 160)

In response to questions -I am trying to get engine temp up. I don't have the cab heater hoses connected so wasn't concerned with heat in cab. It was about -10 degrees. Engine radiator was covered with cardboard. I have a mechanical gauge attached to the engine and the temp was about 140 after an hour of heavy snowblowing. I figured the thermostats must not be holding so if I replace them I wanted a higher temp stat. Thanks guys.

Yeah I also forgot to say I do not have a cab heater hooked up at this time. Just the engine and radiator only. They still manage to pull some air even when you cover the sides and when it is that cold it is enough to cool more than the engine can heat fully I think.
