Hissing 861 Gas Cap

Today, I called the closest NH dealer about SB 1993/10-T2 concerning the gas cap exchange program. He said he wasn't aware of it being current since it was written in 1993 and my tractor was almost 40 yrs old. He said he would check it out and call me. Does anyone know if the program is still in existence? I don't like my gas cap hissing from built-up pressure in the tank. Thanks

I don't know if the program is still running, but you need to replace the cap with a vented one. A pressurized tank can be a serious safety problem. They don't cost that much.

Yes, New Holland still reimburses the dealer for it, he can ask his service rep how to do the claim or tell him to send a WIT to New Holland for instructions, you will need to give him the old cap, the tractor model and hand stamped serial# on the front left top of trans. housing.

The "New Style" gas cap will still hiss when the gas boils. That is the vent letting out the pressure. BTDT
