Homemade bolt bins.

Looking for ideas for homemade bolt bins. I have a steady supply of #10 cans. I just spent three hours sorting flat and lock washers and I am just getting started. I may get the shop organized by the time I retire.

I never reuse a lock washer. New ones every time. I can afford the 2 cents. I don't want to trust a n old one that may have been compressed for 40 years. Pretty much use new nuts and bolts too.

Cut plastic oil bottles work good, too.
Yup. A used lockwasher goes in the scrap pile. Even a NEW lockwasher is little more than peace of mind....

I bought a set from a Karr Supply probably 25 years ago. It gives me a complete stock to start with and a place to put good used or whatever that turns up. Organized.

You could always use the remaining plastic coffee containers.
I have several, I use them for painting, ammo storage, other stuff too.
The Folgers red containers work great.

Get some used plastic elevator buckets. Just bolt them to the wall. Works perfect. Most places will give them away just to get rid of them.

I have perhaps 50 of the #10 cans with fastners, plumbing parts, electrical etc. I scuffed the cans and spray painted them with Rustoleum smoke gray enamel, then printed a label using Excel, and used 2" wide clear tape to affix the label to the can. I use 2 line labels, ie NUTS 1/4" , PINS COTTER and so on and can arrange the cans alphabetically on the shelf. It sure is handy to have a supply of fastners available rather than need one and be 20 miles from a supply. I am running short on plastic lids, do you know of a place where I can purchase replacements?

I made this bolt bin from a sheet of plywood ,1x8 boards for the outside frame and the compartment dividers from interlocking strips of OSB
