My 4830 Ford has 70 HP "gross engine" and 62 "PTO". How do you compare that to my 49N 26 "Belt" and 23 "drawbar"? I know Nebraska tests changed in the 60's to reflect PTO, but how much "Gross" and "PTO" does my N have?

I would suspect that belt hp will be pretty much what you can use for your pto hp.

( If I had to guess on gross eng hp on an N.. I'd say 29/30 ).. or a little over 12% increase from pto hp.. etc..

Belt HP is always higher than PTO HP, something about belt slipage giving a higher rating. PTO HP should be closer to drawbar HP. One of the last Nebraska tests on an 8N lists drawbar at 21HP and PTO 23-25HP

The 9n/2n had a lower all around hp nyumber due to a few things with the test.. and a low compression of 6:1

8n had a higher 6.5:1 compression and the test numbers I see show a rated hp of 27 or so.

Drawbar hp will be one o fthe lowest specc'd on a tractor du to tire slippage. No tire slippage at the pto.. just some gearing losses thru the tranny from the crank to the pto shaft..
