has 75 oil pressure newer berrings and recent rebuild ... by the time i make this rpm thing happen its going to be bored over and new valves etc..

what a great question .Lets take a fine vintage tractor like a farmall h with almost 50 years of history behind it and ruin it for the sake of a tractor pull.I really hope someone takes better care of you in your golden years than you are of this tractor

Pat: If you're already worrying about damaging an engine, you probably don't need to be in tractor pulling. Competition motorsports ain't cheap, no matter what the venue. As they used to say in nascar (the real nascar - the one that doesn't exist anymore): "Money buys speed; How fast do you want to go?"
Otherwise, there is a forum on this site for pulling. You may want to go over there and ask. There is a guy over there named Chad who knows a lot about Farmall pullers. Good luck.

I agree, don g. And yet, it's his tractor to do with what he pleases. Won't be the first old "survivor" vehicle someone ruined in their youthful enthusiasm. mike

No more than two to three hundred rpms faster than rated. the flywheel will be the first thing to explode.Not pretty, and also can be deadly.

thanks for the reponce its not only for tractor pulling but for traveling up a hill where the engine bogs alot well not alot but it bogs but it goes down in rpm i dont think i would mind the extra rpms brush hoggin ither

and honestly i wouldnt be ruining the tractor at all i can asure you i have take better care of this tractor that anyone in its hole life between the coat hanger coal wire the brushed on paint and shet mettal hung on with rope when i got it id say this thing is doing better then it has in manny years

Don't ler ANY ONE tell you what to do. This is a free contry. Pay no attention to people that don't understand where your comming from. This forum is usually pretty dam good and the people here are some of the best you will ever find. But once in a while you will get some one messin with your mind. Don't waist any time thinkg about it.

As to your orignal question..I have my 2 H's and my super H turned up to around 2100-2200 rpm. I never let it run that fsst under no load. Plus I only use the extra R.P.M's for no more then a min or 90 seconds. your engine sounds like it will be fine turning her up a bit. I Turned mine up so i could get a head start on steep hills in road gear. It made a diffrence as my 43 H that is medium compression would not make it up this one hill on my way to dad's farm. After i adjusted the valve lash and turned up the r.p.m.'s she makes her the whole way. I really like the extra speed on my super H. we go on hay rides and if a dog starts chassing ya i can hit 20mph with my super H and no dog i know can go that fast for more then a few seconds. (at leat farm scraps eating dogs that are around here) Good luck. Also mabey find a good used after market govner like a M@W there more snappy and that give the engine a "head start" then make the spring shorter till you get a few hundred extra r's out of her. Also adjust the carb to run MAX power. I have mine turned about a full turn to a turn and a half out from its "starving point" I like to test it going from an idle to wide open as soon as it dosent studder going up giver a full turn extra. Might wanna run a hotter plug I now run autolite's equal to champion d21. Good luck. take her easy and have fun, stay safe.

pat i must say i am sorry.I am a tractor lover just as you are and really my opinion is just that, my opinion.I could have worded that reply different or kept my thoughts to myself which i will do in the future.Please accept my appology and i hope you get many many good years out of your tractor and yes, i agree with you about this forum being the best i have ever seen.The knowledge of the people on here is simply amazing and read it everyday . once again Pat accept my humble appology and enjoy your tractor hobby.

pat just in case u didnt see my other reply i really do want to say sorry for my lack of taste in sending that first reply.I was totally wrong in what i said and will freely admit it.Hope u can forgive a guy who made a mistake.If u werent taking care of your tractor u wuoldnt have asked your qiestion in the first place.I might add one thing tho,if u do increase your rpm and do pto work you may run into a safety problem with the bush hog altho not being a math major i have no idea how much faster your pto will go with increased engine rpm and operating your mower at full engine speed.
