How should I mount it?

I am looking at buying an old truck mounted plow to put on one of the tractors. I'm just debating how I want to mount it.

Ideally, I could mount it to the loader and keep the hydraulic angle (would need a 3rd set of remotes) so then I could have the angle and down preasure, and be able to push it up higher.

Otherwise I was thinking about mounting it to the front of one of our tractors (probably my 1600) so I could use the hydraulic angle yet, but I wouldn't have any down preasure for back dragging, and I wouldn't be able to push it up as high.

My other thoughts are to make up a set of cylinder stops that I could mount on the loader so I would be able to disconnect the tilt cyliners, and then run some lines to run the angle.

Best part about the 165 is that it has a weather break on it and it actually throws good heat, so it'd be warmer than some of my other options.

I like the idea of mounting it on the loader. Frame is already built, just fabricate some mounts for the blad & you are ready to go.

Guess I'd just put the bucket on the loader and be done with it. Unless, ya don't have an 8' bucket?

The bucket works, but the hydraulics are so slow that when I have a bucket full of snow it takes a while to dump it & then take another swipe. Seems like I spend more time waiting for the hydraulics than actually plowing til it warms up, then I'm almost done... The bucket is pretty well shot too. I think it's a 7' bucket, maybe shorter. Would have to put a tape on it.

My neighbor has two monts welded inside his bucket and a grab hook at the top. Uses his tilt circuit to angle the blade. Works pretty slick.

I'd put it on the loader and add the third valve. You'll probably find a bunch of other uses for the valve once it's plumbed.

Don,This has worked well for me on my 880 for past 12 yrs. 8' meyers blade off a dump truck. Use this every winter, blade angles both ways. Beats looking back all the time. Mike

I have a 10' Western blace hooked to the lift arms on a MM U302. The lift chain runs to a hook weded to the upper crossbar on the loader and I run the hydro turn from the tilt lines. I works great for pileing snow. Now if I could only get the tractor running in cold weather.

I know what you mean about slow hydraulics. I have a 7 ft. blade on the loader on my 135. I need to make it angle but even straight it works way better than a bucket. The snow rolls which lets you push further and when you get to the end, all you have to do is lift it a little off the ground so you can back up. The only thing you have to be careful of is hitting one corner of the blade as it could twist your loader frame. Not too likely if you're careful. Dave

That's how I would mount it if i do mount it up to just a tractor, but I am really wanting to add a little bit of down pressure for back dragging. Nothing insane but I do want to be able to use down pressure a little.

I'll take a picture of ours in the next few days. Its mounted on our new holland back hoe and we use it when one of our 5 plow trucks are out of town. Just welded a bracket under the mount to form a U and the bucket slides into the U then run a chain from plow under back, over and back to the plow. Works fine. We just leave ours angles the same way and adjust by hand when necesarry. We do several lots and get by fine with out ever adjusting it so for your small time usage of it you dont even need to plumb hydraulic. Also if you need to angle run a hose from your rear remote up to the front. Alex
