Well, got off work at lunch and went over and made sure my parents generator was all setup and ready in case I need to hookup their well and AC to it.. should be good to go.

got home.. grabbed a case of water, and made sure i had a spare lantern battery.. decided to put the 12v power / jump pack on charge, as well as charge up my spare 12v battery that I use to power my 12v winch.. got that charging and made sure my inverter works.. also got a couple hand crank flashlights / weather / radio's.. etc. Got the 12kw pto genset alread hooked to the tractor as well as some go juice for the gasser tractor and the oil burners..

should be good to go.. hope the storm just fizzles anyway.. but better to be prepaired than not.

As we were told in Jump School:

"Head down, feet & knees together!"

Keep us up w/ weather reports. It looks like something you FL boys can handle w/o batting an eye. Glad to hear you're ready.

When you're done with it, send me about 3 inches of rain, no wind; I'm planting greens Wednesday & need some rain!

I can start sending the rain right now.. it's been coming in bands since lunch.

Yeah.. we floridians are pretty storm savy by now... .. if it wasn't for georgia/alabama.. we're almost an island!

Little different over here near the coast. Dead calm and not so much as a drop of rain yet but it did turn cloudy about 4:30. We will be getting those rain bands in time. Did you see the 6pm news? Call for 6-10 inches of rain here, we need it to bring watersheds up to normal! Got the tractors bedded down, chain saws sharp and won't worry about the generator till the lights go out.

We are pull'N fer ya.

COTTON seed is what it was..........cotton seed.

My headlight switch was wearn'N a little. FULLMOON, no problem with run'N lights, though.

I had to make a "owl type" approach last night here at HOME BASE.

Yep, that was a "cotton TAIL" I saw runn'n away from me. Or at least, a white tail, FAWN.

OWLS.....WHITE OWS!

Keep the COTTON SEED com'n up here!!!!!!!! :))

Here in Daytona Beach nothing yet. Looking at the weather maps it sure looks a little scary. Schools are closed for tomorrow and Wednesday. My work at a computer store wants to close. Computers, and electronics don't go good with rain. We don't think many customers will be out in it.
Got the generator out and waiting if need be.
I feel bad for my N. She's out in the field with no where to hide. She's a tough old girl and can handle it.
So batton down the hatches, here we go again!!

Say, I've heard terms of "move to higher ground used", the only time I was in Florida it seemed awful FLAT, what constitutes "higher ground" ?

Best of luck to you SouNdguy. Let us know how it comes out. Bob Harvey, moving up to higher ground in south Florida is stepping up on the curb.

Yep.. I've had the chainsaw good to go for the last month as I've been clearing a ROW thru the woods ont he side of my pasture for the power company to put in a line to the back of my pasture to run a well..

Batten down the hatches. Good luck. We are getting some much needed rain here. Coming in from the west. I bet we had 1" or more today...Saw some flooding on my travels today....Got soaked

Soundguy, sounds like your prepared, but not having every experienced this along Lake Superior, I would guess a person can't be prepared enough. I think of you and others in your area everytime one of these storms get close by. Take care, batten down and keep the tractors away from weak buildings that could cave in. Ron

back in the 04 hurricanes, a piece of my barn did colapse on my 8n.. still have the scratches in the paint from that..

Sometimes when we get big wind in Colorado (up to 75 MPH) we joke that if we were in Florida, they would give it a name. This is not a "joke" those storms are serious stuff, glad you take them seriously and are prepared for the worst even if it looks like it may not be that bad, you just never know!!!

Nothing like a good warning to make a guy get all his gear in order.
Hopefully it will miss you and since you stocked up you wont have to buy gas for a while.
Best wishes from up here.

I remembered your comments back from 04 and that is why I mentioned it. Sounds like you've taken care of any weak spots around your place since them. Good luck. I'm heading into our hunting camp tomorrow and will end up watering some apple trees that were planted about 3 years ago. We've only had about 3/4 inch of rain during the last 5 weeks, so if any is left over after it passes you by we will appreciate your help in sending it our way. Ron

Just send that hurricane on up here to Tennessee. it is so dry here that we will drain the moisture out of it so fast it will look like a Bounty paper towel commercial.

Suposedly by this afternoon we will be feeling whatever it has..

The way it is heading across the state.. we probably will get a little less where I'm at, vs the people in naples.. etc.

The 5g of gas and diesel is fine to have.. I needed lawnmower gas anyway! same with the bottled water.. the wife takes them to school.. so nothing wasted.. just a couple hours of busy work...
