Hydralic hoses

Where do you all get your hoses? Until yesterday I was getting mine at the John Deere dealer. I have never had any luck at the local auto parts stores making them right, and I did not mind a little extra for good hoses, but yesterday 2 half inch hoses seven foot long with pipe thread and no swivels cost me $102 I about stroked out!

Most of the hoses I buy any more are from the local farm and home places and I just buy them how ever long I need most sell them in 1,2,3,4 etc foot lengths

One of the local auto parts tores still has some people as old as me in it, and they do a great job. Have a guy dedicated to hyd hoses & starters. They do a good job and can fit the length & ends you need.

I buy a lot off the shelf at the farm supply store. Runnings Fleet & Farm is the chain around me, but any of those Mills Fleet Farm, TSC, etc.

Sometimes I’ll get the ready made hoses at the local farm store or Princess Auto….approx $20 for a 6’ ½’’hose. Last hose I had made was for my combine header last summer, 3/8 about 7’, and it cost about $75 at Aeroquip….expensive compared to Princess Auto, but they were closer, and I like the peace of mind that it was an exact fit rather than me picking one off the rack. I prefer to take the old hose when I can because if I buy off the rack from measuring or eyeballing the old hose, I’ll usually end up with a wrong thread on one end and won’t have the correct fittings to adapt it!

most farm stores have started to carry chinese made hoses and from what I have seen the reds don't know how to run a pipe thread die, either they are crooked or they leak, never knew what teflon tape was when I was a kid.

If I can pre order them Surplus Center is my choice. If I need them yesterday I usually get them made at NAPA if they have the right ends. If its odd ball stuff, like on my MEMO loader, theres a Parker hose store about 30 miles from me.

I'm lucky in this regard. There are TWO Parker stores nearby. One is less than 5 miles east, other is about 7 miles west. NAPA dealer will make them to order. John Deere, CaseIH, and Massey Ferguson dealers with-in 1/2-hour drive. They all make them or stock standard lengths/dia.

All things equal I prefer closest Parker store

Fifty dollars each isn't that bad. I went to JD and 7 ft 1/2 inch hoses with JIC fittings were $185 each. Went to a local Parker hose shop and they were a relative bargain, $75 each. Plan on using the Parker store for anything that doesn't have NPT fittings. For these I'll go to the local farm supply store.

deal with hyd hose on daily basis assembly machinery and that price is pretty normal to make up hoses. The good quality hose ends and hose are more costly but heck of alot less headaches and failures. the unit I use to assemble them with run between $3000 AND 4,000.00 so you could get a unit and make your own from bulk if the $100 was to high. Just simply another fact of dealing with machinery

that seems high, Case IH dealer sold me 2 six footers for 72.00 with threads. or maybe thats about right its around 6,7 dollars a foot I guess with ends so I dont know.

I just had 2 i/2" x 8' hoses made at NAPA, $133.00, going to cut off or out the bad section and have them put an end on the old hose from now on.
