hydraulic fluid for skidsteer

I just bought an 1845B Case skidsteer. My manual says to use Case TCH fluid for the hydraulic system. I'm sure that doesn't come cheap. What else could I use without having to go to my Case dealer? Thanks to anybody that can help.

The good grade of hydrauilc oil (tractor/transmission hydraulic) will be fine to use. Even this is probably $35-$40 per 5 gal. bucket now.

If my memory serves me correct a friend of mine bought a 1845 Case and his manual says to use 10-30 motor oil with a anti foaming agent. The dealer told him this same thing, and they sold the anti-foaming agent.

Some machines call for 10W-30 and some don't. I would use what the manufacturer recommends. Hydraulic fluid with regular filter changes lasts a long, long time. I wouldn't worry about price as much as I would with expensive engine oil. Hydraulic repairs aren't cheap.

that's funny..i have a case 1840 and it calls for 10W-30 oil with anti-foaming agent in it. i would just go to your nearest caseIH dealer and ask them about it

If that skid steer has wet clutch packs or wet brakes. And you our in the cheap hydraulic oil that is not wet clutch compatible.
That set of new clutch/brake lining will cost more than the savings in the bargain oil.

Most skid steers I've seen call for 10W30 in the hydro. Mine does anyway, but that's a NH LS170. I use TDH from Walmart or Canadian Tire. Works fine. It's also about half the price of Hy-Tran or NH 134D......
If you have aux boom hydraulics on that machine and switch attachments back and forth with a tractor loader then you would be well advised to use the TDH or equivelant fluid in the skid steer anyway so that you don't get cross contamination between machines.

Tch is a oil that is motor oil with the antifoaming agent and you better use it unless you like to buy hydropumps and motors I used to work at a Case dealer and it was the same price as the other hydraulic fluid if you do not use the foaming agent in there those pumps move it and the cavitate and a few have air locked last I knew you could put a tandem pump and both motors in for around $2500 so what is cheap?
