hydraulic issues

Hello All,

I have recently acquired a white 2-44 industrial tractor. I don't know the year but I have the serial numbers. I have serached for service books and can find every White model except this one. Judging by my internet searches Oliver and White are the same??? ie. 2-44 oliver = 2-44 white??? Anyway the hyrdaulics on the front loader all of a sudden are acting up. I put a pressure gauge on the inlet side of the valve and am getting 500psi hyd pressure. It seems low to me. I"m told the pump was removed last fall and checked at a shop and works fine. Another symptom is it chatters almost as though there is air in the system. My thoughts on air are if its locked then the implement(s) affected would not work. If they did work slightly, I thought cycling through the hydraulics would clear the air back to tank and out the breather. Doesn"t seem to clear the chattering.
Any ideas out there? I would love to know the spec for the output of the pump and any tricks as to how to cure the chatter.

Air should work itself out. You might have water in the hyd oil. The pressure on mine 2-44 or Oliver 550 Ind is max at 2000rpm is about 1800psi. Call Floyd in Iowa for a manual. I had problems with my loader due to the pressure should first runs to the backhoe then to the loader(was hooked up incorrectly). What year is your 2-44 and what brand is the backhoe? I"m trying to find some info on the backhoe. I"m having a swing cly issue, to much play. Thanks

Get yourself 2 shut off valves and plumb one on each side of the swing cylinder where it is conveninet. Cycle the swing cylinder a few times and then shut both valves. Then you can see if the problem is in the cylinder. Since you now have a manual are there work port relief valves in that circuit? More questions?

Check the suction side of the system. You may be sucking air into the system, or starving/cavitating the pump gining you low pressure.

I am having the same issue on the swing cly. When i stop the movement is keeps swinging then bounces back the other way. What did you find the problem was. And what kind of backhoe is it, mine is a henry. Thanks
