If I'm not mistaken, I think it is also used in some Toro lawn mowers. It is the 1.6 liter engine that Ford still makes. It is popular for both industrial uses and for sportscar racers. Originated in first Pintos and in Cortinas.

Is it marked VSG-416? ( there was also a VSG-413 and VSG-411 )

These are a " Kent " English Ford motor. They came in early Pintos ( the thin bumper cars only ) Tennant sweepers used them as well. Ford stopped making the 1.6 a while ago but the 1.3 continued on in KA cars but had been discontinued as well. Older SCCA Formula Fords use this engine so parts are sort of out there.

The Ford Fiesta made from 1978 to 1980 ish ( longer in europe ) used a 1.6 Kent but the flywheel flange and belt side of the crank were shortened to fit in a front drive car. Also, some Fiesta blocks are missing a couple of motor mount bosses which may or may not be used in your machine. ( I did this swap in a Mustang 440 skid )

If you get ambitious, the 1981 and up to the 90's Ford Escort used a 1.6 , 1.9 and 2.0 CVH ( Canted Valve Head ) overhead cam engine that uses the same bellhousing and crank flange pattern. ( 90 and later Escorts were Mazdas, some used the Mazda 1.8 which won't work)

If length isn't a issue, the 1973 to 1990's 2.0 and 2.3 Over head Cam " Lima" Found in Pinto, Mustang, Ranger mini trucks ( not the German 2.0 found in mid 70's Pintos ) uses the same bellhousing and crank pattern.

There was also a Turbo version found in Thunderbird Turbo Coupe ,Mustang SVO and Merkur XR4Ti. ( don't consider the carbed 1979 turbo , it is bad )

Lastly, the 2.3 and 2.5 OHV ( Overhead Valve ) motor found in the Tempo / Topaz uses the same bellhousing / crank flange. These motors are a cut down 200 / 250 straight 6.

What kind of mount / coupling does your machine use? Ones that use a SAE round bellhousing are a bit more interchangable since at least the rear motor mounts are standard.
