I Almost made it

My wife drives in yesterday with a flat tire, on our 2015 Jeep Cherokee. This morning I called my local tire shop to get a set of new tires, I was ready for a new set anyway. I topped off the LF tire with 40 lbs, and headed down the road. A few miles later the pressure countdown began. Soon I was down to 35, a few more miles 30 then 20, I should have turned around. I was almost half the way there I thought I would make it. It wasn't long before I heard the low tire alarm around 5 lbs. I finally found a spot to pull over, At least I had a spare tire, and just enough factory tools to change the tire nothing fancy. I guy sees this old man changing a tire, and stops, and finished changing my tire. Last year on that same road I was changing a flat on my Dodge 3500, a guy shows up with air, and air tools, and finished changing the tire. There are still a lot of good people out there. Tire pressure monitors are really a good thing now days. If I had one on my trailer last week I would have saved a tire. stan

I carry a can of Fix A Flat in every vehicle and gave one to each daughter and son in law.....just in case I am in a situation like this

A 12 volt air compressor comes in handy in those situations. I carry one in each vehicle.

I carry an old school manual tire pump. I hate waiting on the little emergency pumps. They are great for a few pounds low but if it's almost flat they may overheat before getting the tire filled. :)

Best $100 I have spent on a tool to carry with me. 12 or 20 volt. Set the desired pressure and let it go to work.

Why didn't you put the spare tire on before you left home to be sure?

why didnt you drive faster ? i remember one time before i was even in school i was with dad in his 52 gmc pickup. he said we are almost out of gas might not make it. i said drive faster ! lol.

I carry a little 12 V compressor in both vehicles, but this winter my neighbor tried running his new HF 120-volt compressor from the plug in his newer chevy truck, it seemed to run well. Most newer trucks have a 120 V 400-amp inverter built in, but the engine has to be running.

Friend just bought a new car that does NOT even have a spare tire! When I asked how that could be, he said tires are high quality these days. (But so are the nails on the road that puncture them.)

My 2018 car came with an air compressor and fix-a-flat, no spare.
Too many people must have complained, My 2023 has a spare tire, no air compressor.
Did you know rubber is a magnet? That is why Metal objects stick to rubber tires

Wow! Not even a tiny donut tire is included?
So then a flat tire means a tow truck bill.

No, they come with a tire mobility kit. Includes a 12 volt compressor and a canister of tire sealant. Connect the sealant canister to the compressor and then to the tire and it pumps it in and inflates it. Of course it's useless for anything more than a nail hole or small cut in the tread.

Depends where you live. Not rare at all where I live. Actually I would be very surprised if no one stopped. My experience is that usually multiple people stop. Sorry it’s not the same where you live.
