i am a very lucky farm boy

just want to apologize in advance if this takes too long. but I just want to tell you guys about how much fun and pride I had last weekend when I got to help my dad and his uncle plant yet another crop of oats. I am very proud to be the fourth generation to farm on the same ground family farm, celebrating 113 years this summer. and we farmed with case. I plowed with a 1935 Case L and 3-16, following behind my great uncle on his 930 comfort king 6spd with 4-16. and I might ad that I was in 3rd the whole time and always had to throttle back to keep from getting too close, even when he was nudging the hydraulics in the heavy, wet spots :) but after working the seedbed, we planted with a case 400 which has been here since new. the case L has been here since 1964ish. the seed and fertilizer were hauled by a pair of 1959 Chevy Viking two ton trucks with straight six gassers followed by a four and 2, just like they had done for the past 40 years :) soon, we will cut the hay with a Hesston with a slant 6 Chrysler, fluff hay with a Ferguson to30, rake with a Oliver 66, and bale with a SC and a 24 Wire special baler with v4 Wisconsin, haul oat hay back to the 1916 barn with the two Vikings, and load up the barn loft with a single cylinder, Wisconsin powered Case bale elevator, just as the routine has been for over half a century. so I don"t know if I am bragging to say I participated in history, or if I wanted you to know that there are places where time stands still. but either way, that was my weekend

We have run almost every kind of tractor on our farm (5th gen, 120yrs, since the 1983 land run, 6th gen is born but all 4 are girls) but we still have my gpas first truck and tractor and they still get some use, the old MM U on LP runs the grain auger and his 1972 476 Turo Flow GMC Diesel 2 ton 5+2 hauls the grain, we get a new drill every 2yrs and Tractors usually only stay 5-10yrs so thats not important BUT we have history.

Just put this up yesterday, you can see the house my great great grand parents built around the statehood yrs.

wow, good profile name for you :)
yes I have a few dc parts still. a rear 51 half with no eagle hitch and a 53 that has been rolled and mangled.

ironically, I had three friends lined up to photograph the final fields, but all three had other things come up and could not make it out. but I will try to find photos of previous years. and I also forgot to mention about the 1951 chevy 3100 that has been on the place since new, still in use. and the 1924 model T pickup, been on the place since new, recently restored. or the 1170, or combine models 1060 and 1160 I believe. And I forgot to mention that 1935 L I drove has LAI gears in it. that is why it plows in 3rd. Dad swapped it over to four speed guts in the 60's.

me pulling with a 1929 L. look close enough and see the LA transmission top cover, oil pressure lubricated rockers, battery distributer, original flat belt water pump, LA front wheels, and the second hi hitch welded to the rear channel iron :)
sorry about the sticky governor arm and slipping clutch :(
