I have a D6 Cable cat w/hyster D6N winch on rear only # tag I can find is on side of engine at left rear. Says D6 9U 9262 . Can anyone help I.D. this machine? Thanks

Any CAT dealer, and CAT might have the info online- the serial # is all you need, as all ID for parts etc. is by the serial #. 9U is a real good machine, if you have a Hyster winch on the back, you probably have a #24 cable unit on the front. Engine is a D318, with a pony starter unless it's been converted to direct start

Look at the front of the flywheel housing and see if there is a cover held on by three studs and nuts or just a raised portion of cast iron in that shape. If you have a cover to take off you can get a starter with a special gear(spiral tooth) to bolt right on and just wire up. If not you need to make a hole and drill bolt holes. Not something I would recomend, Old Magnet has all the parts sourse info you need.
