identify JD mower?

Can anyone help identify this mower? Hope the photo uploads ok.

You will need a hydralic cylinder to raise and lower it. (NOT to raise and lower the bar to/from the transport position), but to raise the bar to clear gopher mounds,etc.
 
Looks like a old # 5 to me. Someone has changed the mounting brackets to work on a 3 point hitch. My uncle's has brackets that bolt to the tractor, then he uses a steel cable hooked to 3point hitch arm to raise & lower the cutting bar.
 
You have a #5 mower.

Because of the hand lever, it may be an early model.

It does have the the two pieces necessary for installing the hydraulic cylinder.

The brake-away hitch has been modified for a 3pt.

The male end of drive shaft has also been replaced because of the longer distance from the PTO.

Unfortunately an original PTO guard is too short for this setup.

It still looks like a good mower!
