IH corn planter

I recently picked up this axle mounted IH corn planter. It looks like it would fit on a Farmall C, as it has 2 rods that would go to the touch control arms. I need help finding or getting the information needed to make a sprocket to bolt on the axle that would drive the planter. Maybe its a axle mounted planter made for an H that somebody converted over to a C. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Looks to me like a planter for the H or M. The 2 rods originally were operated by Lift-all cylinders that were anchored to the axle and pushed forward. When we adapted a similar H/M planter for a C, we needed to add a small extension (maybe 2 inches) to one of those rods to make things reach the Touch Control. The extensions as in your third picture were there to mount the planter farther back. The planter frame was originally designed for the earlier tractors like the F-20. The extension was required to clear the larger wheels of the H/M. Our planter was a (probably) later model that didn't use the extensions. The mechanism in your second picture is part of a checkrow mechanism. I can't tell you anything specific about the axle sprocket, other than that we needed to shim it for the smaller diameter C axle.

So maybe i actually need to see the hydraulic system that lifted the H or M cultivator or planter. Did the mounted planter and culitvator for an H use the same hydraulic cylinders?

You probably are wanting to see a rear mount cultivator, most H & M cultivator were front/side mount. Here is a thread with pictures of one of those.

I don't see any mention of a rear mounted planter for a C in the General Line Catalog for '48 - '49. The one listed is a C-220 & that's a front (mid) mount unit. There is a listing in the catalog from 1939, for a F-110 - F-111 rear mounted check row planter that looks just like what you have there. The extra frame "reach" for the check row head on the machine's right would be made for the wider tractors (F-20 - F-30) without adjustable axles.

The A (&B)-111, H-111 & M-111 were all the same planter units with different mounting frames between the A & B, H & M & different axle brackets between the pairs.

I don't see any attachment packages listed for the F series planter, to adapt it to any of the letter series. Not to say that it wasn't done, just not finding it here.

The F-14 had the hydraulic under the opetators seat. So the rods on this planter are too long for that.

I'm not seeing anything for a C either. There were, of course, Fast-Hitch planters for rear mounting on the Super C. The catalogs from the 1940's era simply listed a different model planter for different model tractors. Makes it difficult to see if they only differed by a few brackets.

They're extremely rare, but IH did sell a Lift-All retro fit kit for the F Series & Regulars. Would be interesting to see if there was also a kit to change the lift mechanism over to the style that look the Lift All cylinders.
