IH cub magneto

I am having trouble with my cub ignition; the #1 plug will fire 2 or 3 times then stop when turning the engine over. New points, condensor, cap & rotor. Anyone have this issue before?

Thank You

Probably need a little more info. Does the same thing happen if you check other plugs or is it just #1. How are you checking for firing. If you try again later does it do the same thing. Does the tractor run or not run. Did it suddenly happen or after you put in the new points, condenser, etc and why did you put in the new points, condenser, etc.

Did you remove the magneto to replace the points? Did you time it back correctly? My video shows an H4 magneto but the cub J4 times exactly the same way.

I was mowing with the tractor & it died. I checked for fuel & that is fine. I pulled #1 plug & had no fire, grounding to head bolt. The plug is clean, no oil residue. I pulled the points & cond & they looked fine. I thought the cond was shorted so I replaced that. I did not remove the magneto.

"Mowing and it died" .......my '45 A ,with a magneto started doing that, driving around fine and died like I cut the switch off. Several hours later it would fire up and run again. Replaced the coil, problem solved. If you replaced your points, you will need to vigorously clean the new ones ,they have a film on them. Your old condenser is likely good.
