IH fast hitch

Couple of questions about the fast hitch.
1. Is there down pressure with it and is it constant or only in certain situations?
2. I know there are 3 point conversion units for the fast hitch. What is involved in getting the top link?
3. Since the fast hitch is fixed spacing are there category 1 and category 2 3 point adaptors?
4. Would one of those 3 point 'quick hitches' work after you put the adaptor on?

Yeah, I'm looking at another tractor. 544 diesel hydro with fast hitch.

well, the 560 fast hitch has downpressure. I'd imagine the 544 would be the same. Seems most of the IH tractors with a 3pt didn't have downpressure.

there a pin in the bottom of the lift cly. rais the hitch all the way up remove if you dont want down pressure ,install pin for down pressure

1. On the 300, there is down pressure. Pull a pin out of a shaft & collar, & then it floats.

2. On the 1st year 300, there is no provision for a top link. A special frame adaptor (kinda looks like a quick hitch...) does the job. Dad fabricated a top link hole with angle iron. Newer models have a top link as far as I know.

3. I have seen the short adaptor arms with different bends in them, soI assume you can find what you need, tho I'm assuming....

4. It should. Basically that is the factory adaptor for the early model 300. On the 300, the range of motion is less/ different than the 3pt treactors I have, so all is not gravy.

Go to worksaver.com - look up your tractor and they will have drawings for that application. I have their conversion for a Farmall 200, and it works fairly well. Top link bolts to back of transmission housing in place of pulley wheel. Never use pulley wheel anyway. Biggest problem with conversion is that distance between the arms is fixed, and you have to buy or adapt impliments to that width. I"ve done this successfully with a number of impliments for mine.

Have a 350D with fast hitch.It does have down pressure,but it can be set up so it doesn't.I fabricated a top link bracket and bolted it to the transmission housing above the pto shaft.There are three holes in the housing on my 350,don't know about a 544.You can get two different width of adapter arms,26"(cat. 1)and 32"(cat 2).Have a set of 32" arms and borrowed a set of 26" adapters off the neighbor,but he just traded the tractor and the arms went with it.They work alright,but I think one of those quick hitch adapters would work pretty slick.Not sure where you're at,I'm up aruond Oil City-Franklin.

On my 706 ger.diesel. No down pressure on ffast hitch. Didnt want it anyway. 3pt.top link bracket was bolted to transmission housing. I had the FH to 3pth adapters for cat 1 and 2.
