Could anybody tell me what I would need to switch out if I were to switch from a IH front axle to a swartz front axle? I imagine the main steering arm and would the the heavy metal plate that everything (on the IH front axle) bolts to need be taken off as well and changed to a different type of plate??? I have this tractor apart already and was ready to put the axle back on when I ran into a good deal on a nice swartz but am undecided what i should do.

go with the swartz then sell me the other one lol swartz r tuffer and will handle more abuse than ih fronts do my resto h was bought new in 1940 and it came with ih front and its in peices broke but i would like to keep it stock the way my grandpa bought it

were are you located? I called a salvage yard not to far from were I live and said they would buy the IH front axle for what I thought was a decent price (double what I have to give for the swartz.)

The Schwartz is a stand-alone unit. Just remove everything associated with the IH front axle, including the steering arm, and then bolt the Schwartz on.

What is the wide front off of? Is it with the tie rods behind? I have a schwartz I would trade you if it's for a Super H or Super M. I have a schwartz for either.
Southern Minnesota.

The front is off of a 1950 M and has the steering linkages located in the front off the tractor. Would'nt the Swartz off of the Super M bolt up to my M? What shape is the Swartz, any welding etc.? I'm located in Minnesota also about 2 miles south of Lake off the Woods or as the Crow flies 15 miles from Canada.

The swartz I'm refering to in my previos post I have not seen as it is in South Dakota so I'm trying to figure out the Mounting differences.I guess I'm wondering about the heavy plate that everything on the IH front bolts to, does it need to be removed it looks like it is bolted to the frame and would I have to remove the radiator to remove the plate? Sorry for all the questions but I'm trying to find out the easiest way to make the switch. Does the Swartz bolt up to the frame rails then? I would need a different steering arm to bolt to the Swartz also correct? Thanks alot for your input and this web sight is super....
