You sound terribly stressed!!! I could relieve some of that awful stress for you if I just came down there and got that stressful stuff out of your sight,(you know out of sight out of mind). That would relieve some of my stress trying to find a nice wide front and a new set of tires. You could just take the rest of the week off and let me do the worrying. Too D##n cold to work anyway.

Yeah,

None of this "fix" is working out quite the way I had planned.

Ordered new wheels and tires and they took 4 days longer than expected getting here. The original wide front is sold so had to get it off of the tractor. Guy wants it. NOW.

Didn't wanna leave that tractor hangin' there in mid air, so since it only takes a couple of minutes, I just bolted on that single front.

Then, the guy didn't come after the old wide front after all. :>(

Then, and then, when the wheels and tires did finally come, totally wrong for the old M, so I had to swap 'em out for the ones under the 966.

Not stressed; just a little tired. :>)

that sure looks like a beefy front end fer just goin' on a M. i don't blame ya on the procrastination part. it's durned cold out there I got -40 degreee wind chills today.but that M looks good with the single fron on there. just curious....what year is that M?

This '52 tractor came from up close to the North Dakota line where they put up a lot of hay.

I can tell that it had a Farmhand F-10 on it at one time and I'm just about 80% certain that the tractor had suffered being broken in two, because I can see "tracks" of the repairs made. Those darned old loaders had to be "trussed up" or they would do that.

Good news is that it was completely rebuilt from the front to the back by the prior owner's granpa. Then, it was parked in a quonset 20 years ago and has set there ever since. It's just about as close as ya can get to a new M.

Everything on the darned thing is new including that replacement engine, radiator, gauges, starter, 12-volt generator and battery. Steering is nice and tight and there isn't a peep of noise out of the gear train.

I dunno. An M is just an older version of a 560/656/666/686, so I think those 9.5L x 15s will work just fine. Tape-measure says it will sit just an inch lower in front than when equipped with the single front.

Still gotta get the power steering and the live hydraulics put on it before she's ready for the field tho. :>)

my grandpa's old H was like that. someone dropped something real heavy on it. the steering shaft support where the throttle and everything had been welded. The frame rails had been welded on both sides near the back of them. people jus abuse them and lift things that are too heavy for the tractor. needless to say i will probly replace the frame rails and such when i get around to restoring it.
