Install clutch

I have the engine rebuilt and will be installing the clutch soon. I remember someone posting a fork shaped device used to adjust the clutch from the flywheel. I can't seem to find it in the archives. Could someone post it again and explain how to use it to adjust the clutch? Thanks

John........clutch adjustment is "OUTSIDE" the tranny housing. Clutch is "centered" by removing and using the tranny input shaft. (4-bolts) REPLACE the tranny input shaft seal ($4, cheap) before re-installation. Coarse sandpaper the clutch wear areas of both the pressure plate and flywheel. Deep scratches are OK. Torque the clutch pressure plate bolts 12ft/lbs. Inspect yer flywheel starter ring gear teeth for wear, replace iff'n needed. ($20, cheap) Simple, eh?.........respectfully, Dell

Hi Dell
I remember some time ago a post that had a home made tool for measureing the levers on the pressure plate so when the throw out bearing made contact they were all even. Maybe John was thinking of this? Take care, Bob

Here's the dimentions for the tool, don't remember where it came from, but I think someone on here posted it about a year ago..

That is the tool I was thinking about. My question was very vague. Sorry about that. I'll try to be clearer in the future. Thanks.

You don't need to mess with the fingers on the pressure plate. Buy one from a reputable supplier and install it like it comes out of the box.

I'll take the "blame" for posting that!
