International 454 rod

Hiya,

I have an International 454 3 Cyl Diesel, I’ve taken the MCV off to replace the hydraulic pump and seals and clean the suction screen while I’m at it.

When I took the MCV off I found this rod in the bottom, it doesn’t seem to be part of the MCV as far as I can tell, so I’m wondering if perhaps it’s from the gear linkages under the top cover as I have never been able to put the tractor into HI gear since I’ve owned it?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Hello Tikoman, welcome to YT! Is it a hollow tube? If so looks like the “transmission lube tube” to me, number 18 in the link. CNHI IH 454 parts catalog
FYI, that link allows you to view all the parts sections of your tractor. This is probably evident if viewing this on a computer. On a phone you have to click “454 International Series A…” to the right of the Home icon to select a Functional Group and their subsections.

My apologies for the delay in reply! Been having some absolutely hectic weather here in NZ and haven't had a chance to get outside and take a look.

But to confirm yes that is the correct part and page that you linked me, I also stumbled upon a 454 dismantling video which showed that location as well. Thanks for your help!
