Is this motor compatible with any of the tractors IH built or is it strictly a truck engine? Say like a 560? Thanks DK

Recently there was a Farmall 350 puller for sale in photo ads that had a BD 264 in it. It appears to be very similar to the 300 series engines ag engines.

I have a 350 Farmall with a BD 264 in it. Pretty much the same set up as the tractor engine with the exception of the bolt holes on the back of the block lining up with the plate that bolts to the tractor. There is just a slight difference in the holes and they will need to be redrilled. My email is open if you'd like to talk about it.

A BD-308 is less like the Black Diamond series of engines, and more like the BLD or "Super Blue Diamond" engine series. Note the shallow valve covers and, in most cases, the long-shaft distributor sticking up as high as the valve cover [although some of the later engines got a shorter distributor].

so would this engine have anything in common with say a 301 combine type engine that could be swapped into a 460/560? Or is it a completely different ball of wax? I just thought if it could be easily swapped in and be the same as a 301 i could save a little money on the 400 stroker project and go with this! Our club allows 460/560s in all classes so it would be similar to a divII or III.

The BD-264, at least here in America, is NOT a British diesel. It's the Black Diamond 264 engine, a 6-cylinder found mostly in trucks from the late 1950's thru about 1968. They were available in both straight-valve and tilt-valve, with the majority being tilt valve engines [evidenced by the wider valve cover than the straight-valve engine].
