Is this normal??

I went through the steps in the article on this site, plus everything the kit said. I had all these little parts remaining and most of them arent even shown in the exploded view in the manuel. The ponty thing near the quarter is an extra as well. Some of the parts are extra gaskets, like the ones shown in the article that is for rebuilding a marvel carb. Do you think this kit is sold for multiple carbs?? What do you think?? Does anyone recognise what they are, what are they for??

why does all of your post have a second saying exactly what you said is it something you do or is there someone toying with you. also the parts left over look normal to me the mixture screw left over should have been longer or shorter than the one you replaced I hope you matched them up. there are some of the parts that are seals for the shafts so if you replaced them I think you got it done.

My experience says its normal. They try to include parts for multiple variations of the same carburator. I always keep them in case I missed something...

Some of those kits come with alot of extras. Save them as sometime in the future you may need them for another carb. I have a drawer full of that stuff and it sure comes in handy.

I guess i will!! Hey, theyre here for the taking if anyone needs them!! Also have a couple gaskets that were extra.

Those switches and dials all got a sequence to them and the sequence chances each time...that's the best help I can give! ;-)
LOL

I replaced everything. There were 20 some extra seals and washers, only like 8 in the carb according to the exploded view, LOL. The pointy things were identicial, all 3 of them. Some smart@$$ is doing that, i dont respond. Dont feed the trolls

Well, here's going to be the problem with learnin' about it all at once, and rebuilding it all at once. I suspect that there might be some trouble shooting all at once.

There are always some parts left over from a carb kit because its easier to mass produce for several similar than repackage and relable a whole bunch of similars. Catch my drift. Put those "extra" parts in a bag, mark them, and stash them in case they weren't extra when you get to trouble shooting, if there's going to be any trouble shooting.

Some advice from someone who's sat back and watched your progress, and you are making progress and plenty of it. When you do fire that B up for the first time, don't do it in the garage...just in case there needs to be some trouble shooting. Aim it at the field, away from the house, or parallel to the house in case it decides to go backwards on its own. I'm not being mean, I've been there myself. Don't want to have to redo a freshly redone tractor, and don't want to see Mom standing in the driveway crying if the firemen have to rush over. It wasn't a nice thing to watch my Mom cry. Nope, that wasn't one of my better experiences to cherish.

OK, i will. Why, what did you do? That has crossed my mind, im assuming when all the remains of various oils, crud, ancient gas, who knows what elce is coming out of that thing it aint gonna be pretty. I got that mag on the tractor today as well.

My rebuilt carb started the fire and burned not only the tractor, but part of the garage at the time. Float wasn't right, so gas didn't stop flowing, nor did the leaks. Gas is very volatile, and when it flows, it flows quick and feeds a fire quicker.

Learn from my or other's mistakes. Do not make my same mistakes. I've seen other guys not have clutches adjusted right, and gears grabbed, and away it goes until think fast enough to kill it. Things happen, we're human and humans make mistakes, so long as the mistakes we make aren't intentional.

Just be careful. You're young, you will learn and that's the great part of life, but you have to get there to enjoy it. And never make Mom cry. That just don't make for good memories for either of you. Always, always, always take care of Mom.

I suspect it's someone who has felt you were posting rude things but let them have their fun and ignore them as you are that is what I would do and not let them get under your feathers.

If I recall correctly, your tractor is crank start only. When you start it for the first time, you may want to tow start it with the Kubota.

Crank starting a tractor is dangerous, especially if you have never done it before. Most of us know at least one person with a broken wrist or arm from crank starting a tractor. With this being the first time starting the tractor since all the work has been done, some things may be out of adjustment, making it more dangerous.

Towing it will also give you a chance to get some oil pumping before the engine starts.
