It just never quits.

I now have another problem with this truck. I figured I would take a look at the coolant and it's a light brown oily mess. If you let it sit long enough it will be more oil at the top and thicker but it stays mixed pretty good. I would guess that it was green coolant before. The truck has never had problems with overheating or running smooth. The wierd part of this is that there is no sign of water in the oil AND there is no oil gone from the engine. The tranny is also on a separate cooler from the coolant so it can't be getting the oil from the tranny in the coolant. The only thing I can think of is that someone might have put oil in there thinking it was coolant or put oil in there thinking it was the fill up point for the engine oil, but can't think of who might have done it. This truck really has me stumped.

Going by your earlier description, that it is a 1997 GMC, you just need to flush your coolant, and install new. That uses the orange, 150,000 mile antifreeze, and that is what it looks like when it has lost its usefullness. Both daughters cars needed that, and that is what it was, flush and it stayed clean. Yep, someone mixed Dexi-Cool with Prestone or some other ethylene glycol coolant. Ya need to flush it out good and put in new. Both my "96 and "97 had it happen. I went with regular Prestone in one but the dealer did the other one and he put Dexi-Cool back in. Haven"t had any problems with either since so I guess you can go either way, just can"t mix.

Yeah , since I started buying oil in gallon containers got about four ounces into my tractor radiator before I could pull back on the jug.Color of the plastic gallon sure looked like anti-freeze when I picked it up.Dont tell my wife where her turkey baster is.

Drain it and put plain water in it and run it for enough time to circulate good then drain it. This way if you do that a couple of times you can get the oil out and not waste any antifreeze.
