Need some advice. My 520 sat for a year. The set. bowl was leaking oil. I repaired the diafram in the bowl for the auto shut off. I pulled the set. bowl out of the tank and drained all of the old gas out of the tank. Changed oil and filter put 2 quarts gas in tank it started right up.Didnt idle right so I drove it (with the choke open about one ouarter) about 300 feet to the shop.Left it run till it ran out of gas. Five days later I tried to start it and it, wouldnt fire a lick.I checked the coil wire and plug wires to make sure they were conected good.Out of habit I checked the oil It had no oil in it, all that was on the stick was gas. drained the oil and there was no oil in the eng. at all, it was straight gas.Does any one have any thoughts on where the oil could have went and how the gas got into the crank case? Two and a half gallons of gas came out into the bucket. Two of my other tractors were empty of gas that had at least a half tank of gas each. I am starting to think some one is fooling around at night trying to be funny. Two years ago someone took a shot at me while I was working on a tractor so I carry all the time now. I think he might be fooling with me again. Does any one have any thought on the 520 gas problem Sory about the long post. Thanks Sam

looks like your going to have to start working the midnight shift and I don't mean sitting in the house a couple of months of that will probably produce results and what you tell is all that will be known.

I don't know about your oil disappearance, but your gas got in the crankcase by the automatic fuel shutoff. The diagphram will develop a hole and gas drains back through the oil pressure lines. You will need to rebuild the fuel shutoff. The parts are available from Deere.

Mark this exchange of oil to gas happened after I fixed the auto shut off fuel. To check the shut off I only put about 2 quarts of gas in the tank. When I drained the tank I got two and a half gal. of gas out of the crank case.

Put a hidden mark on the oil fill cap so you can see if it's been moved the next time the tractor makes it's own crankcase gas.Jim

Last summer I had a problem with my Jet Skis loosing $50 worth of gas I put in 2 days before. Came back and it was empty. So I put up my hunting motion camera on a tree and got photos of a neighbor stealing my gas out of it. Hard to lie when theirs pictures of him doing it!!!!!!!!
May want to get a motion camera if you think someone is messin with you.
