JCB info. needed

On my 1984 1400b jcb backhoe, I am about to pull out this 236 perkins, as for as the torque converter goes, does the converter need to be marked as the last bolt comes out or can the converter be bolted back to the flywheel in any order upon installation? I dont have a book so i am just winging it.. any advice on this will be welcome and if there is any tricks that I need to know just shout out to me!! I also will be pulling the crank out this weekend so any heads up advice or beware notes will be helpfull... THANKS GUYS, Larry

When ever removing a part in a machine we always mark with a center punch or viberating marker to help put it back together..Do what you want but I think you should. advice is worth......what ever.

Sorry to see that you have to pull the crank,you will have to take it to the machine shop for them to "mike" it up,they may be able to grind it for you,you will now have found out that running an engine that is knocking can ruin the chance of tha shaft been saved,should be plenty of the 4.236 engines about as they very common esp in MF gear,when removing the engine take the things that can be damaged out of the way because it is a tight fit,the rad,cooler and fan,pull it straight forward off the shuttle and sit it on something,the front then has to be tilted up a fair bit so the lump can come up out of the hole,when refitting sit it level and in line in front of the shuttle,push it straight back,if its tilted it can damage the oil seal in the front of the charge pump,I always renewed that seal when in there,about the torque you can mark it,there is a special alignement tool but you are using the same torque so no need to bother with it.

A.J. man, your right as rain about running it with it knocking, The older gentleman I got the backhoe from just did not catch it in time, or wasnt paying att. to it.. I do admitt to running it less than 3 min total but the damage was done! I am waiting on some e-mail from a man who said he might have a crank and if he dont have one or I cant afford it I will be takeing it to a local machine shop down here and see what they can do with it.. thanks , D.G.
