I just bought a 65 110 . The tractor is noisy in tranny if you turn sharp. Sounds like bearing noise. How hard are they to work on? Im not familar with the variator is it suposed to be smooth? mine slips are stalls going up small incline. Are these tractors junk? When right will they pull larger tires?

To answer one question,no they are not junk. I own 4 of them and would not even think of selling one. You need a parts book that shows the exploded views of the tranny. the variator needs to swing back and forth freely. all belts need to be off to check this. also the center sheive needs to turn freely and move from side to side.also you need to use genuine John Deere belts. they have a 'v' of 32degrees. after market belts have a 'v' of 40 degrees. They just don't work very well. send me your phone # and I'll call you and explain it all to you.

looks to be a 1972. the bearing noise you here could well be the the idler pulley on the rear drive belt and they can be purchased at tractor supply if you have one near by.
