Jd 1460 ????

What is you opinion on this disc moco? Thinking I may upgrade. And how much hp to run it ? JD 1460, 9ft9in cut, 540 pto, asking 5250$

Unless the machine is in perfect condition that is high market price. The hay tool market right now is down. The livestock guys are still down from the high feed cost.

The JD 1460 uses a Kuhn cutter bar. The JD 920 was the first to use the JD cutter bar. The problem with the Kuhn cutter bat is the cost of any repairs. They are a single cutter bar. You have to take the two halves apart to work on any of the gears/bearings. It is nothing to have $2500-3500 in the parts alone on Kuhn cutter bar.

I would keep loooking.

Plus a 1460 is getting fairly old. It's the 1st model disc Mo-Co JD built.

i ran two of them for years were very good units and i had really good luck with them. that being said tho the price you talking thou is to high. that machine has age on it but that being said still good unit just to high

If your going with JD then I would look at a 925 or 926.

They both have the segmented cutter bar. You can repair it easily. The cutter bar is much more rugged than the individual gearbox type like NH and New Idea. As long as you keep oil in the cutter bar you will have few problems.
