JD 3010 oil pressure

We have a 3010 diesel. After the tractor warms up if we idle down to 1200 rpms or less the oil pressure light will come on. I had our dealer check the pressure with a gauge today. His test shows 14 psi at 1200 rpm and 30 psi at full throttle. He tried to turn up the oil pump screw but it did not change the pressure readings. The service teck was not able to find any specifications on what the oil pressure readings should be. I am thinking about trying strait 30 wt. oil to see if that will help. Any ideas, a weak pump maybe? Or am I looking at an overhaul? We have replaced the sending unit. Thanks

30 wt may help, but it's probably worn bearings, with no history I would get ready for an O/H

Main and Rod clearances increasing in gap.

O/H soon, not immediately, but yeah, that light ain't just there for no reason.

Depending on the number of hours it has done, I think I would be pulling the oil pump and checking it out along with the oil pressure relief valve. It could save you a costly tear down that might not be required.

Get someone that knows these pumps to have a look at the internal gears and pump body to check their condition.
