JD 3pt mower on Ford 8N?

Would a JD 3pt mower fit on a 49Ford 8N?

Maybe maybe not. I have a JD#9 that could be made to fit but would be a bit to big for the 8N. You want a sickle mower in the 6-7 foot range no bigger

I use a JD 9 on my 8N quite often.

just remember that you can't raise or lower the mower with the cutter bar in the upright [vertical] position. You would either have to lower the bar to the [ horizontal] position or un-hook the pto. Also be careful when raissing the cutter bar for going down the road. Never-ever put your fingers near the knives. Al;ways use your palms. Sometimes the cutter knives slide doen when being redied for moving.

Man, that brings the chills back when think of that. We had a neighbor who had a small Farmall (A, B, C?) that would cut hay for us. I can remember many a time that the blade slipped down after raising the mower. Used to have nightmares about getting my fingers sliced off by it. We used to keep a thick wire handy to wrap around it to stop that when transporting it. Brrrrr!

thats not a three point mower,not a true three point anyway.without some extra parts no that wont fit your 8n. also there was two styles of these,one will fit the other will hit your rear tire.these mowers were made to fit on the old jd mechanical lift,and they had a bracket that bolted to the lift arms that made them work.most folks after they got them setup simply left this bracket on the tractor.without it your sort of dead in the water.basicaly these were semi mount mowers.they hooked to the two lift arms and the weight sat on single tail wheel.the other bracket allowed it to raise cutter bar over an obstruction.Anything with a "w" after the model number such as 9,39, etc wont fit your n. the w indicates they were built with a tractor with a wide wheel base. these are excellent mowers,parts are readily available,but you need those extra parts to make them fit other brands of tractors,and its pretty rare to find them.hope this helps.
