JD 40 Dash panel color

I am restoring a 1953 model 40, s/n 67588. The dash panel and footrests are black. I know JD painted almost everything green, but should these parts be black or green. Thanks for your help.

The Dash should be black. Gloss or semi-gloss black. Footrests - green like the rest of the tractor.

ah, he said footrests. wasn't paying attention to the dash. gee.

I think Larry is correct. I know of a restoration shop that mixes corn starch with the gloss black to create that not quit flat black used on radiators and such and I think that was about the finish originally on the dash. It definitely was black.

Thanks for the responses. What about using JD Blitz Black for the dash. Seems to be a semi-gloss black.

The seat assembly should be black.
