jd 450b angle cylinder

I got my jd 450b working great thanks to many helpful hints from people on this forum. I am preening her up to sell as I have finished my little landscaping project. I have one final problem I want to resolve before I list it. The left angle cylinder on the blade has gotten very weak and will yield under pressure from the straight angle and minus unless constant pressure is held on at the yoke control. The cylinder had a wear plate welded on where it had rubbed against the tracks. I have replaced the blade frame bushings since then but I think the heat from the welding may have damaged the integrity of the internals of the cylinder. I have never overhauled one of these and I don"t want to replace the whole unit. Anybody got any ideas which components probably need replacing as a result of heat damage. Would just a seal kit do it or will I need a new tube and or other new hardware.

I recently rebuilt my first one on my 350 deere exept it was a lift cylinder. The whole process was easy the only fight I had was pulling the rod and gland out, and breaking the end nut loose from the shaft. Just use a comealong to pull the rod out and everything else should go fine. One word of advise is search ebay for the seal kit. I bought mine through a dealer for $120 and then found on ebay for $40.

Thanks Cory. I saw a seal kit on the Brokentractors site for 35.00. Supposed to be OEM.

Did you have both cylinder ports open when you pulled the rod out? Even if the oil is drained, there is still air that has to go somewhere. Most seals can be matched up but some cylinders only like OEM seals. Dave
