JD #5 grass stick

Just wondering if anyone knows the length of the grass stick for a #5 mower? The manual doesn't give the length, mine snapped off at some point. Thinking of just getting a 3 foot dowel and use that but just wondering how long it might have been. Thanks.

A broom handle or shovel handle makes a good grass stick.

Bolts on inside of grass board to help tall material fall to the left so pitman side doest clog up on next round .

Here is a picture of the mower board or divider board and the rod to help create a clean path for the mower shoe the next round.
