JD 730D Hydraulics

I hooked my 730 to a New Holland round bayler, thought I might bale hay with it in a few days. First time I"ve used the 730. The hydraulic would only open the back door half way. Should it open all the way?

maybe hyd oil level low or maybe hyd on tractor set for single action and not double cyl usage

After 30 years of farming I learned to look for the simple things first. Check to see if the pump is cut all the way on at the governor.

The reservoir on a 730 is not large. If the cylinders on your baler are single acting then you probably just ran out of oil. You will need to find a way to add oil capacity or run hoses to return the oil from the cylinders. Mike

I think single acting cylinder isn't the problem as all rd balers I've seen had double acting tail gate cylinders. I think too low hyd pressure may be the problem.
