JD 755 opinions

Appreciate any input on a track loader. Looking at a 755 John Deere for farm use - all clearing.
Serial number is 755 331737T and showing 3800 hours - about how old is this machine and has anyone have experience with using or working on one? My guess is around a '79 model?

Not sure on the exact year, but if its not a B series it would be late 70s-80s. Never run one myself but I've known a few others that have. Never heard any complaints.

You check it out for sure but I am almost certain the 755 is a twin hydrostatic drive in the rear end. Used to work on the 850 dozers. I would not want a 30 year old hydro . can cost more than the thing is worth to re work one of those rear hydros. If I were looking for a cheap older farm loader look at 175 ih C model built in the 70 / 80 era and can be found for $ 7500.00 or so. Just my two cents worth. Nothing agains jd just the cost of those hydros

It is the first series of JD's hydrostatic drive loaders. I wouldn't believe the hour meter. It is a 1979 model. They were a good machine when new but if you needed work on them, they could cost a fortune. It would be well worth it to spend the money to hire an experienced JD mechanic/shop to check it out. Also get some oil samples done on all the hydraulics. My former neighbor had one he used for demolition. It would easily out push and out work a Cat 955 of about the same size and weight. I did a fair amount of welding on that machine. A Cat 955 is a good machine in it's own right but not hydrostatic.

never had one but all the dozer mechinics I know say the same as below. At auctions they practically give'em away.
