Would the 47 A have the pressed steele frame and if not can the pressed steele be bolted on to the 47? Also can any one tell me the speed difference between 1st & 2nd in the two stick transmission and 1st & 2nd in the single stick transmission in the A's? I understand the two stick transmission is faster but how much faster?

The pressed steel frame started with the 1947 model year. 1947-1952. The two stick hi/lo speeds are = first 2 1/2, second 3 1/2, third 4 1/2, fourth 5 3/4, fifth 7 3/4 and sixth 13 mph with a 4 mph reverse. The single stick transmission which came out in the mid 50 model was = first 1 1/2, second 2 1/2, third 3 1/2, fourth 4 1/2, fifth 6 1/4 and sixth 11 mph. Reverse was 3 mph. These speeds were on 11-38 tires.

For clarification, the pressed steel frame started with #584000. That is mid-1947. The first half of 1947 was the old style frame.

Whew.. I bet it's fun to back a wagon loaded with hay in a 10 ft. hole with a 4 MPH reverse. Oh yeah and with a hand clutch and no powersteering. I'll leave that for you old men with the experience. LOL!!
