JD A puller

what year A? and why slower? Are you running out of power? An A in first gear should never run out of power, it should loose traction lon before. you must have that thing weighing alot, or you need a good tuning.

I have a 50 A and I can say I have never herd of one you can buy not saying there not out there. You are only looking at around 35hp stock what do you expect it to do. I always thought 1st was low enough. If you are not happy empty your wallet and tear in the motor and beef everything else up along with it. Mine does everything I expect it to do pulling in farm stock with a stock rebuild

Guys 1950 A has i mile per hour slower 1st gear than 1949 A and no i dont think the parts fit back in the 49 this make a bigger demand for 1950s for pulling

I did not no that, If I member the 49 had hi low?
But any case if the tractor is tuned right even stock pulling in stock class it cannot be hurting that bad unless he is pulling in a heavier class

A stock "A" that doesnt have creeper gear wont hack 5500 unless its a awful long chain and a crap track.

You can take the first reduction gear and clutch pulley, clutch driver etc. out of an 50,51,52 A and put in a 49 A and slow it down a 1/4 of MPH and also gives you a better clutch, like changing from a 373 rear end to a 410 in a pickup. Been there and done that.

Sometimes it"s easier to make the motor stronger than make the tractor slower. Speed, even a ltitle bit, is your friend. E-mail"s open

Why do you even take the time to answer if what you going to do is beat the guy up over his question. What is satisfactory for you may not be for him. He asked ifsomebody knew how to reduce the speed of 1st gear. If you dont know Dont Answer.

What are you two dating? Just stating the facts, what does he expect out of a stock A and full pull everytime. Not happy with it beef it up or buy something bigger.

Why do you take time to reply and yours did nothing to help the matter or state just common sense.

OK - I didn't realize how much your answered helped or even how much common sense it displayed. Keep up the good work!

There was nothing big about what I said nor do I need to hide behind the computer. The guy at the beginning simply asked if there was a way to slow down 1st gear. Which part was it that offened you? The "If you dont know dont answer" or the "Keep up the good work"
