JD A pulling engine

(quoted from post at 21:48:34 03/28/12) Looking to build a John Deere A for pulling in the plow class. What is the best combination for the engine.

A 5.75" x 9" with a stealth head would be completely invisible on the outside and do quite well if you know how to drive and have good tires.

I was at a Pull last year, when a little UN-Styled JD "B" OUT-Pulled every Farmall, Oliver, AC and went home with 2 Wins that day..(Plain City, Ohio)..

I saw a tractor at Sigourney with big extreme stickers on the side. It didn't run very extreme from what I saw. It left in a hurry with it's tai1 between it's 1egs!

I think I know the one you're talking about Doug, isn't that the one that kicked the crap out of the SD crew at Princeton earlier this year?

I think he got DQ'd for speeding at Sigourney.

Are the results posted somewhere?

I have a 7 3/8 crank with .125 over pistons, Josh Blackburn cut and rewelded my rockers and added 3/8" to my rods also he did a bunch of head work and I have 60 horsepower, I am sure if I plowed with it it would do very well, I would actually wonder if it would stay cool unless I only pulled the a 2-3 bottom plow.

Yes he did beat us a couple times, but on a track that had twice as long of a chain and took half the power as sigourney! If its so EXTREME why does your guy come up to our guys and tell us "I need more power in order to run with you guys"?
Have a nice day!
