My JD A's serial number is 580542, which makes it a middle year, or late 47,
I guess they still had the pan seat, with the stem on it until 48
when they went to the better seat, with siderails,

Beginning at serial number 584000 - Late 1947 - the model "A" tractors received the Battery Box seat and the pressed steel frame -

Your tractor, which is close to this number, had the pan seat and angle iron frame.

My A is number 581461. She has a warehouse date of Dec 20, 1946 and a shipping date of Dec 23,1946.She has a pan seat but has been fitted with a Fleischer-Schmid sprung and damped unit. She also has the old angle frame, short bonnet, and dual fuel tanks but with the gasolene manifold. drop me a line if you need any other info.

Hi mike,
Kirk,
mine has the knoedler suspension seat on it, and i wanna get it off, as i dont know how to fix it and ive got the stem, and pan seat in the garage,I mean If I could fix that knoedler seat on there and find a cushion,
Id keep it and redo it,
as of now though?
it's all loose and rickety, just kinda hanging off the back of the stem its bolted to,
I saw another one like mine in a pic on here , it was in neb but i looked for it and didnt nsee it again,
I guess ill just take this one off and then put the JD stem and pan seat on like original,
