Does anyone know how much this kind of knotter cost. It bolts on so that you don't have to pull the shaft. Also are they as good as the regular kind. Thanks

Are you talking about the "8" series square baler. The local independent mechanic has a high opinion of them. He has retro-ed them onto the older "7" series from what I understand.

Go on line to JD parts and find out.Or call/go to your local dealer. They have the latest/newest price.

They cost over $1400.00, without the big gear and some incidental parts.

I've never bought or installed or used one, but have repaired and/or timed several customers' balers that have had one installed and they seem to function no better and no worse the the originals.

Is this the part number you're referring to as the split knotter? I didn't see split knotter mentioned in 348 PC.

I know if your baler still has the old style knotter, you must install a sleeve on the shaft to adapt to the split frame. Therefore you must disassemble the shaft anyway.

Jim, they are working on fixing the ordering of the DVD 131595. They were being shipped with each new baler a few years ago.
