JD discrace,

I cant believe JD would charge 30,000 for a little 4520 compact, and then get away with it,
Ill take my W-6 , put a king kutter on back and laugh it all the way home,

100% agree.

Quality has declined.

Plastics, electronic junk.

Targeting big and rich city slickers is the only way they get money.

Yeah, but how's the stock price doing these days? Unfortunately, that's the "bottom line", and all that matters nowadays.

They'll get away with it as long as people keep buying; and the people who buy those are doctors and lawyers who have plently of money to spend and in my opinion need to be overcharged for what they buy. Turn about is fair play you know!! VERY recently you could buy a 6000 series tractor (90 something hp) for that much money, doesn't have all the luxury items though.

Price a New Holland last time I did they were higher than Deere ! Actually Deere was cheaper than New Holland and even Kubota on a 35 HP model with attachments. I have to admit though that New Holland looked a little better built ? it had cast iron rear end housings and I think Deere and Kubota have aluminum.

For $hits and grins, I stopped in the local JD dealership yesterday and priced a new 4720 with cab and loader. $34,100. I told the salesman they were crazy, then he told me....Oh, we have a $1,000 rebate now....so, it's ONLY $33,100!

Fellers, you can harp about JD's all you want. I've had 3 and bought my last new one in 2005 (5320 4wd/541 loader). This stuff they are making is junk. I love it when these guys come crawling out of the woodwork DEMANDING to know what could possibly be wrong with anything painted green and yellow! Most haven't spent THEIR hard earned money on one, or if they have, they are ashamed to admit that Deere&Co. have sold us a worthless bill of goods. Gone are the days when JD built a first class machine, worth the money spent. Small displacement engines, zoomed up with a blower and cranked injector pumps may make lots of paper HP, but put one in the field and see what it amounts to. My 5320 strains pulling a 3-14" plow and it ought to run with it. Bitching does no good. They'll hook it to a dyno and scream that it makes 62 HP (7 over rating) and act like you're a whining kid. Well, let them get off their a$$es and ride that same tractor in the field all day...their attitude would change in a hurry. I even called the factory rep...(somewhere in Illinois) and he all but called me stupid. I paid for my right to gripe and paid dearly. JD has sold me their last tractor. The engine tag says ASSEMBLED in Georgia. Yes, with a Mexican engine, Italian front axle, Polish hydraulics, Spanish draft gear and injection system, German rear axle/transmission and Chinese (yes Chinese) drawbar housing..they hid the China stamping by putting it on the bottom of the casting. God only knows where they bought the electronics, seat, wheels and body parts. I don't know what the answer is....it seems that all makers are doing this. It's a sad state of affairs.

I really could care less about a compact 4720 or whatever. what has made me rethink farming in general is one quarter million dollar sprayers, four wheel drive tractors and combines .and the amazing price on the parts to fix them. one good thing about the $30,000 compact tractor is that it will help keep the value of our 4020's and 2510's .Paul

YES,,, BIG TIME,, AMEN BROTHER, I COULDNT HAVE SAID IT BETTER MY SELF,
RIGHT ON,
THAT'S TOTALLY IT!
SCAM SCAM SCAM SHAM SHAM SHAM,PLASTIC, PUSH BUTTON, TRENDY, POSH, WHATEVER,
Ill take an Iseki,or Kubota, or other Imported tractor,or mahindra, or other's,
Go do thing;s with it, and be a happy camper,?Shoot,,, even an Old Fordson F would be better than these platic JD's,
At least it's MADE, AND I REPEAT MADE OUT OF STEEL, LIKE A TRACTOE SHOULD BE,
AND NOT THE COOKIE CUTTER VARIETY!

I was thinking about a JD compact for a long time. I thought the prices were high, but competitive with other makes. However, I bought an M, sight unseen, out of Green Magazine. Then I picked up a 1010 with a Freeman loader (I know their problems, but it was such a good buy). Now, the compacts look puny and cheap. I may be able to add a 4020 (my dream machine) and still be ahead of the game!

DID I GET CHEATED ON MY 180 THEN , LAWN TRACTOR
it has light alloy on the axle too, and I thought i was getting something but no,

amen brother but still no biggy,I dont like plastic push button's either,
Ill take a Farmall M, a 2745 Massey, and a 1950 John deere A, electric start,

Some years back I asked the price on a new C-IH with loader. When salesman told me the price I replied,"That should make my Ford 800 worth about $8000 on trade in. Oh well.

Compare whats in that tractor in steel, engine etc. with a 30K pick up truck or a car. In ten years the truck and car are junk.

How does John Deere's price compare to other firstline tractor manufacturers' price for a comparable tractor. Having a W-6 to use is nice but it sorta identifies you as an International man and that's okay.....But why cut down a modern John Deere product? Is it because they survived the economy crunch of the early 1980's and your company didn't?

They are all doing the same thing. I have a friend that just bought a new 108hp Kubota. The engine is 230 cubic inches. The turbo is around 3" in diameter and the injector pump is about the size of a beer can. Wonder how many hours he will get out of it?

That why everything has gone cheap is beacuse they have to compete with the japanese and there tractors, Kubota is just a pile of SH*t too. I have worked on them. As for them dammed american actually wanting money for working, Gees can't they be like the Chinese and the Indians and work for about free so we can have a cheap tractor. Wake up this is America. I want to be paid for working and that my friend is going to cost you.

They would vbe cheaper here to if we just dumped our polution in the air and water like the imports. Maybe we could dump it at your place.

I'll tell you guys JD is robbing people on parts as well, alot of john deere parts comes from a company called A&I, i'm a dealer through them and know what stuff costs, have seen it and some things are identical to that of deere's. Below is a few examples, tell me if deere is making money.

Fuel sending unit:Deere wants $95 A&I $26
Evaporator for an AC unit: Deere $1,081 A&I $139
AC Compressor: Deere 680.00 A&I 360.00
Delco Starter: Deere 510.00 A&I 189.00

People start finding about stuff like this, deere will be hurting, I admit they have to make a profit but 900% profit is robbery

Ohh shoot, you got that right, big time rip off's
this has got to stop, and soon,
filthy JD making money for the yuppie's out there that dont know a hill of bean's about farming, or machinery,
I think Ill just park a Fordson F in front of one of the corporate turkey co,s that buy this overpriced junk and see if they like it,
and tell them ,, There ,,, now that's a tractor, not plastic,
but carnegie made steel,

Dukester, you have a point. JD had to change to survive, or all we could get would be full-blown Chinese tractors, and they would still cost $30K due to no competition. I still think JD is the best value out there. Buying my M and 1010 really only made me want a bigger new one! I think JD rotary cutters were the best overall value, too.

I did a little looking around and if anyone wants to compare parts through A&I their website is https://www.aicatalog.com/ ... but they have parts for all brands of tractors as well attachment parts. There is definitely a big price difference in the things we've checked.
