JD G/70 Big Block

Two-cylinder tractor pullers: Anyone interested in a 7 1/2" bore block for a John Deere G or 70 - contact me. I have a block with pistons, rings, wrist pins and a template. Located in central Indiana.

Is the block a JD block or aftermarket? What compression ratio was the block, pistons, rods, head capable of? I know there are more variables, just wondering.

It is aftermarket. The pistons would not be a concern due to high compression. Personnally, I prefer not to go over 9:1. Between 8:1 & 9:1 a two cylinder will lug better on a hard pull. I ran 9 1/2:1 before and had to burn 114 octane and it did not seem to lug well. (That was with 6 5/8" bore & 9 1/4" stroke.)

It should be the same as any G or early 70. A G block will bolt up to a 70 All Fuel. I am not aware that the Gas would have a different bolt pattern.

I am running a 9 1/2" crank and a 6 5/8" bore. The 7 1/2" would give me 840 cubes. It would take more work to put it in than I want. It would be down for most of the next several months. I can be back together with my old block in a few weeks and ready for the "winter" pulls.
